Council has adopted the Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2025 to 2029.

About the Plan
We want to build a community that meets the needs of all our residents.
To understand the barriers, we listened to people with lived experience of disability.
We also asked for feedback from their families and communities.
Key areas
Our Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2025 to 2029 has four focus areas.
This follows the framework provided to all NSW Local Governments as part of the NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014.
Four focus areas
- Promote positive community Attitudes and Behaviours
- Create Liveable Communities
- Support access to Meaningful Employment
- Improve access to services through better Systems and Processes
Our Draft Plan has been created together with our:
- Access Consultative Working Group - made up of people with lived experience of disability
- Disability Organisations
- Community feedback (October to November 2024, and September 2025).
This feedback has helped shape our Disability Inclusion Action Plan.
In the early feedback stages held during October and November 2024, we captured over 280 bits of feedback across the following activities:
- 56 responses to Community Survey
- Approx 150 people engaged across 4 Farmers Markets.
- 4 x 1:1 sessions.
- Disability Sector Workshop - 8 services and community groups represented
- Accessible Beaches Workshop - 10 services and community groups represented.
In February 2025, we will partnered with the Queer Family to deliver another consultation workshop.
We also worked with Sandhills Childcare Centre to incorporate children's and young people's views.
