We'd like your feedback on the proposal to amend the Byron Shire Development Control Plan (DCP) 2014 All-Electric Developments.

These amendments to the DCP will introduce guidance to support NEW residential and non-residential development to use electricity, rather than gas, for:

  • Cooking
  • Heating
  • Cooling
  • Hot water.

The proposed changes do NOT apply to EXISTING homes or businesses.

Why are these changes being considered?

  • Cost-of-living pressures
  • Energy price volatility
  • To protect the health and safety by avoiding indoor and outdoor pollution associated with gas use.

Some NSW councils have already adopted similar approaches.
